Almost 2 weeks ago, my dh had some business meetings in BGK.  I played hooky from carpooling the kids to school and tagged along with him.  Dh’s mom was more than willing to help the maid out with the kids, so off we went.  I prepared 2 days worth of meals for them.  Then the rest of the days, mil had to cook or took the kids  out to eat.

We stayed at The Royal Orchid Sheraton.  Dh booked us into a very nice grand deluxe suite at the newly renovated Tower Suites.  This suite came with brkfst,  afternoon tea and cocktails at the floor lounge with free internet..  The first night we were there, we had a little too much at tea time, so we skipped dinner.  Especially good were the salmon quiche and homemade rolls with salami and gherkins.  My favorite was the tart filled with sauteed shallots and rolls of roastbeef.

We only ate at one of the hotel’s restaurants once.  Giorgio’s has pretty good Italian food.  Dh wanted to stay in b/c he was exhausted from his business meetings and trips to 2 manufacturers.  We didn’t order much.  Dh had the porkchop and I had the prawn scampi.  We didn’t order any starters.  The 3 types of fresh bread were very good with olive oil and balsamic vinegar as dips.  The chef gave us complimentary appetizers of crab and garlic on thinly toasted bread.  I was surprised the food was quite good.  My shrimp scampi was not what I was used to, but it was alright.  Dh was very satisfied with his porkchop.  The main entees came with a mixed veggie of green and yellow squash, bell peppers and beans. I tried not to eat too many starches with my meals(except my weakness for fresh breads),  Surprisingly, the fried potatoes were very tasty.  It must have been the fresh rosemary that the chef used.  I will have to try rosemary with fried potatoes at home.  Giorgio’s is quite a huge restaurant and only 4 table were occupied with a total of six diners.  I guess most people went for the other restaurants. There was a Thai restaurant famous for aunthentic Thai food from the royal palace and another restaurant known for their seafood bbqs and cultural shows.
