Cream biscuits

These biscuits are sooooooo good, they simply melt in your mouth.  YUM!!!  I got this recipe from tasty  by Roy Finamore who used to publish authors and chefs to streamline their recipes.  My dh ordered this book from Amazon last year and this was one of the first recipes I tried.  I always make biscuits to eat with beef stew.  I’ve tried different recipes with buttermilk, yeast, shortening and butter.  This one is the simplest and the best by far.  The kids always ask me to make extra so they can have some for snack and brkfst with jam.

Cream biscuits(The recipe makes 10 biscuits)

2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp course salt, 1 Tbsp sugar, 1 &1/3 cups heavy cream, plus more if needed.

Heat the oven to 375 degrees F or 180 degrees C.

1.  Put flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in mixing bowl and whisk to combine.  Pour in cream and stir with a fork or your hand:  may add a Tbsp or 2 more.  When there’s enough cream, the dough will come together and clean the sides ofthe bowl.

2.  Take  the dough out onto a floured counter and knead it 12-15 times, just until smooth.  Pat the dough 1/2 inch thick. Cut biscuits out with  2.5 inch cutter and put them on an ungreased baking sheet.  Brush tops with cream.

3.  Bake for 18-20 min, until risen and golden.  Serve steaming hot.
